Indian Institutes of Technology, popularly known as IITs are the most prestigious and top engineering institutes in the country. They are the autonomous institutes for higher education in the technical field and are most popular for the B.Tech courses that IITs offer. At present, there are 23 IITs in India which are governed by the Institute of Technology Act, 1961 – a common IT council.
To get through an IIT is not a cakewalk as the IIT admission process is highly competitive. Every year, thousands of candidates apply for the limited seats but only the best out of the lot get to live their dream of being a part of such prestigious institutions. For admission in IITs, candidates have to appear in IIT entrance exam in two levels – Joint Entrance Exam: JEE Main and JEE Advanced. It is mandatory to qualify in both the exams to compete for seats and specialization preferences which is conducted by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA).
