Established as the Karnataka Regional Engineering College or KREC in 1960, as the part of the second planning commission, the current National Institute of Technology Karnataka – NITK Surathkal has emerged as one of the most eminent engineering and technological institutes in Karnataka. NIT Surathkal is one of the top engineering colleges of Karnataka situated in Mangalore district beside the Arabian Sea on the western coast of the country. NIT Surathkal is an autonomous institute.
