National Institute of Technology, Warangal (NIT Warangal or NITW) is a public engineering college situated in Telangana. NIT Warangal was formerly known as Regional Engineering College and was renamed as the National Institute of Technology, Warangal in 2002. The same year, NIT Warangal was also granted Deemed University status. NITW is the first one in the chain of thirty-one NITs in India. The foundation stone of NIT Warangal was laid by Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru on 10th October 1959. The institute is recognized as an Institute of National Importance by the Indian Government.
